Video: Cyclist on the hood of Rage Cage

July 15th, 2008 by Sveden
Cyclist on car hood

Found this via MBL this morning. So glad the cyclist wasn’t seriously hurt.

Portland police arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of chasing down a cyclist Sunday and driving off at a high rate of speed — with the cyclist hanging onto the hood.

In the video above, taken by a witness with a cell phone camera, the cyclist can be seen clinging to the hood of the car after the incident. The cyclist, Jason Rehberg, later managed to get off the car without serious injuries.

James F. Millican was arrested on attempted second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, third-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.

Thanks to Zero Per Gallon

July 11th, 2008 by Sveden

All Rights Reserved

A big hearty thanks goes out to Jonny5 over at Zero Per Gallon for sending a large stack of ZPG stickers.

He was nice enough to send them priority so my procrastinating ass could get some in time for Saturday’s race.

If you want some for yourself head on over to his store and grab a few. He’s also got some cool recycled bike tires as belts.

I want to know exactly how big of a screw job this is

July 7th, 2008 by Sveden

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - There’s nothing like $4 gas to make drivers pay attention to the numbers on the pump. And more of those eagle-eyed drivers are calling Minnesota’s Department of Commerce to report suspicions that they’re not getting as much gas as they’re paying for.

-Star Tribune

I’m well aware that my food comes to me via gasoline, but that doesn’t mean I don’t relish every friggin month I don’t have a car payment, every month I don’t have an insurance payment, and every dog damn day I don’t have to worry about how much gas is in my nonexistent car.

BFF Scavenger Hunt - Details

July 3rd, 2008 by Sveden

I’ve been very busy lately putting finishing touches and rounding up props for Bicycle Film Festival Scavenger Race. Its all going down at 1pm on July 12th. Just show up to Varsity Bike Shop in Dinkytown with a few friends and a digital camera or cell phone camera. Cost is $5 per person.

The race will weave its way through the University campus and a bit of South Minneapolis and end at Theater de Juene Lune for the evening’s films. You can count on this being pretty low key and open to riders of all skill levels. I’m trying to keep the distances down so don’t expect to be running all over hell and back to complete this race.

Teams of up to 5 people will assemble and try and complete the mind bending manifest. If you are by yourself, come on down and we’ll help you get on a team. Always room for one more.

If you want a little flavor of what it was like last year check out this shit-ton of photos from last year.

I’m super excited to announce that MPLS finest monkey drawing cartoonist, Roger Lootine, will be designing the spokecards for this race. He did them last year for scAVENGER! and they were awesome.

Check out more BFF Race info under the tag BFF

Update: Check out the crazy amount of prizes for the race winners. We’ve got Crumpler bags, Surly Schwag, Aveda products, PBR, Space 2 Burn t-shirts, and maybe some Twin Six gear. And of course lots and lots of beer tubes.

Attempted Bike theft near Sawatdee downtown

July 1st, 2008 by Sveden

A friend of mine was having a beer at Sawatdee downtown around 9pm on Friday. After a beer, he came back out to his bike, locked to the parking lot fence, only to find his Kryptonite Evolution lock had been cut 7/8th of the way through.

The parking attendant came up to him and said, “Yeah dude, there were like 5 kids trying to steal your bike so I called the cops and they ran away.”

He called the police after a few minutes and asked for an officer to come take a statement and inquired as to any 911 calls about the attempted theft. Turns out no one called to report the theft in progress.

What does this all mean? Get two u-locks I guess.
